We Are Going to Space
We are Sunburnt Space Co, and we’re on a mission to make space exploration a reality for Australia. We believe in the power of innovation, the spirit of adventure, and the importance of keeping things simple.
Our goal is to push the boundaries of what’s possible, starting with Meggs Jr., our first step into the vast unknown.
But Sunburnt Space is about more than just launching rockets.
It’s about creating opportunities. Too many brilliant engineers leave Australia to pursue careers overseas or end up working in the mines instead of in space.
We’re changing that. We’re building a homegrown industry where young Australians can dream big, work hard, and stay right here to build the future of space exploration.
About Brad

From a Hobby Store to the Stars
I still remember the first time I saw a model rocket. I was 15, standing in a hobby store with my dad, staring at the stand filled with rockets of all shapes and sizes. I wanted one so badly, but I wasn’t old enough to buy it. Two years later, at 17, I finally got my hands on one.
It wasn’t NASA-grade by any means, but it ignited something inside me.
From that moment, I was hooked.
Over the years, I launched more than 60 rockets. Some soared triumphantly, others never made it back. Each failure taught me something new. I learned that the simpler designs often worked best, and that persistence was just as important as technical knowledge. But beyond the launches, I had this unshakable belief: One day, I would build real rockets, big ones, and send them to space.
Though for a while, life had other plans. Running businesses, raising a family, and navigating responsibilities meant that space took a back seat. Yet, the dream never faded. I watched as Australia remained absent from the space industry while other countries moved ahead. I knew that had to change. And I knew that, somehow, I would be part of that change.
Fast forward to last year and it clicked. If I was ever going to build that rocket company, now was the time.
That’s how Sunburnt Space was born.
I started with a simple but audacious goal: Launch one of the first fully Australian-built rockets to space from Australian soil. No bureaucracy, no overcomplication. Just a lean, focused approach to making it happen.
I gathered a team of passionate engineers and rocket enthusiasts, people as mad as I am about space, and we got to work.
Our first mission, Meggs Jr., is all about proving that Australia can do this. We’re not trying to build something that takes decades and billions of dollars. We’re keeping it simple and moving fast.
Our Plan
01
Target: Feb 2026
Cross the Kármán Line with our first rocket, Meggs Jr.
02
Target: Oct 2026
Achieve a Two-Stage Flight to 300 km
03
Target: Q2 2027
Launch an Orbital Attempt with our second rocket, Ginger Meggs
04
Target: Q3 2028
Deliver an Experimental Payload to orbit (Space Stop 5)
05
Target: Q4 2028
Our First Commercial Payload mission
Each milestone will validate critical aspects of our technology,
establish our launch record, and strengthen our reputation in the industry.
Future Goals
Our First Commercial Payload Mission
A reusable first stage for cost-effective launches
A crew-capable flight capsule
These milestones are critical as we work toward the ultimate achievement: launching Australia’s first payload on an Australian-built rocket from Australian soil.
Each advancement will bring us closer to our vision of making human-rated, sovereign launch capabilities a reality, positioning Australia as a leading force in global space exploration.
