Meggs Junior Mission by Sunburnt Space Co.
Welcome to the Meggs Junior Mission page, where innovation and ambition fuel our journey to the stars. At Sunburnt Space Co., we are proud to lead the charge in Australian space exploration with the launch of Meggs Jr., one of the first rockets built right here in Australia. Join us as we push the boundaries of what’s possible and lay the groundwork for the future of space travel.

Mission Goals
Reach the Kármán Line
Ensure Safe Recovery
Demonstration Flight
Execute Cost-Effectively
Preliminary Design
Pressure-Fed System
The rocket utilises a pressure-fed propulsion system, simplifying the design and ensuring a steady flow of propellants. This approach minimises potential failure points and enhances operational efficiency.
Propulsion System
Meggs Jr. is powered by a sophisticated liquid engine utilizing ethanol as fuel and nitrous oxide as the oxidizer. Our impinged injection system ensures thorough mixing and efficient combustion, maximizing thrust for the mission’s success. With lightweight aluminum tanks and a robust stainless steel engine casing, Meggs Jr. is designed for reliability and performance.

Infrastructure Development
To ensure mission success, we are developing additional infrastructure at the launch site. This includes facilities for fueling, rocket assembly, and telemetry, all designed to support a safe and successful launch.
Launch Site
Our mission takes off from the Endeavour Aerospace Launch Site at White Cliffs, a prime location that underscores our commitment to advancing Australia's space capabilities. We are actively collaborating with the Australian Space Agency to secure the necessary Launch Site License, with alternative sites at Equatorial Launch or Southern Launch facilities as backup options.

Safety Measures & Risk Mitigation
Ensuring the safety of our team, the public, and the Meggs Jr. mission is our utmost priority. We've implemented comprehensive safety protocols and conducted extensive risk assessments to mitigate potential challenges.
We work closely with regulatory bodies to meet all legal and safety requirements. On launch day, our team will be prepared with clear emergency procedures to address any unforeseen circumstances.
Every component of Meggs Jr. has undergone detailed analysis to mitigate risks. We will conduct a series of ground and small-scale flight tests to validate system performance and ensure mission readiness.
Equipped with advanced recovery systems, Meggs Jr. is designed to return safely to Earth. The deployment of drogue and main parachutes has been meticulously planned to guide the rocket back to a predetermined landing zone.
Our flight safety plan, developed in compliance with the Australian Space Agency’s regulations, covers all mission aspects from launch procedures to recovery operations, ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards.
